What is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty reshapes the upper and/or lower eyelids by removing or repositioning excess skin, muscle, and fat. Functional upperlid blepharoplasty lifts droopy lids that obstruct vision; cosmetic blepharoplasty focuses on rejuvenation. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia.
What to expect after Blepharoplasty?
- Mild pain, swelling, and bruising for 1–2 weeks
- Cold compresses and head elevation to reduce swelling
- Temporary dryness, tearing, or light sensitivity
- Sutures removed in about 5–7 days; most return to work in 7–10 days
